Walking & Biking
Tequesta offers a walkable village environment with sidewalks throughout most residential areas, though it's more car-oriented than pedestrian-centric given its compact 2.2 square mile layout and spread-out waterfront character. The village provides access to scenic walking and biking along the Route A1A & A1A Urban Trail, with sidewalks that often double as bike paths in urban areas, and residents frequently walk or jog along quiet streets like Tequesta Drive, especially in the early morning.
While not a master-planned walkable community like Abacoa, Tequesta's small-village scale means local shops, restaurants, and parks are relatively close, and nearby natural areas like Jonathan Dickinson State Park, Blowing Rocks Preserve, and trails along the Loxahatchee River offer excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation and nature walks.
Biking is popular for recreation and exercise, with e-bikes allowed on sidewalks, though the village's layout is better suited for leisure cycling and accessing nature trails than for car-free daily errands, making it more of a "drive to walk" or "drive to bike" destination for serious outdoor activities.
